  • Track Circumference: 1600m
  •  Length of straight: 375m
  • Character: Spacious circuit with oval track. Long straights and two broad turns.
  • Track is irrigated, well grassed and quite uniform. Soil type is sand over clay
  • Field limits: 10 for all starts
  • Meetings per year: 2 TAB & 1 non TAB meeting

The location of the course has provided the Club with a venue which is both convenient for local people but is also conveniently near the Kingscote Airport.

The Sealink Ferry service is only a 30 minute drive away. This allows easy access for both Island and mainland public.

The events have continued to grow each year and now the Kangaroo Island Cup is regarded as one of regional SA's 'must visit' race events.

The Kangaroo Island Racing Club Calcutta Sweepstake operates on the

Penneshaw Pub Kangaroo Island Cup, to be run on 21 February 2026.

Raffle tickets are available at the Racing at the Cygnet meet, January 17, Thursday

19 February race meet, at the Welcome Party and prior to the auction at the Ozone

Hotel on the night.

“Punter’s Intermission” at Dudley Wines clifftop cellar door provides Racing

Carnival attendees an opportunity to celebrate between race days - on both

Friday 20 February and Sunday 22 February.

With live music, gourmet food made from local ingredients and an assortment

of hand crafted Kangaroo Island wines - its an afternoon not to be missed!

Return buses available from Kingscote ($35pp) and Penneshaw ($20pp)

Live Music, Cocktails and Burgers

Slip off the track and ease into island time at Kangaroo Island Spirits for The

Punters’ Pause on Cup Friday. Relax in the garden with live music, cocktail jug

specials and local burger favourites - the perfect way to unwind between race

days.

Bring your mates, settle in among the greenery, and let the good spirits flow.

Bookings are essential, with limited tables available. Friday 20 February 2026, from

1 pm at Kangaroo Island Spirits, Cygnet River.
