Star jockey Jamie Kah has thrown her support behind the South Australian leg of the Thoroughbred Industry Careers National Pony Racing Series to be held at Morphettville on Adelaide Cup Day on Monday, 11th March.
Kah has come on board as an Ambassador for the SA heats, which is the last chance for young riders to qualify for the finals at Randwick on All Aged Stakes Day, Saturday, 20th April.
“I was so excited when Racing SA asked me to be an Ambassador for the Morphettville Pony Races,” Jamie said.
“Pony Club has a special place in my heart. I joined the One Tree Hill Pony Club when I was just two years old, and then rode at the Mount Pleasant Pony Club.
“Growing up around horses has helped me massively. Pony Club sparked a lifelong love of horses and taught me skills that I still use today.
“The chance to introduce kids to the sport that I love on Adelaide Cup Day will be a lot of fun and I can’t wait to meet some of the up-and-coming young riders,” she said.
Those who want to take part in the Morphettville Pony Races must attend a Pony Racing TASTER DAY at Onkaparinga Pony Club and Oakbank Racecourse on Sunday, 11th February.
Preliminary fields will be selected at the TASTER DAY and those participants invited along for more training and subsequent selection at Morphettville Racecourse on Sunday, 10th March.
“If you want to make one of the fields for the Morphettville Pony Races on Adelaide Cup Day, you must attend the TASTER DAY on the pony you wish to try out on,” Lindy Maurice, CEO of Thoroughbred Industry Careers said.
“The SA leg is the last chance to qualify for the finals at Randwick, and I encourage Pony Club members of all ages and abilities to come along to TASTER DAY.
“You’ll learn new skills and about careers you didn’t know existed in the Thoroughbred racing and breeding industry.
“Places at the TASTER DAY are limited so please register as soon as possible to secure your spot,” Lindy said.
The National Pony Racing series is a partnership between Thoroughbred Industry Careers and Pony Club Australia.
