Celebrating 128 Years of the Clare Valley Cup

Clare Valley Racing Club will celebrate 128 years of the Clare Valley Cup this December. The 2023 running of the Clare Valley Cup will be held on Sunday 3 December.

Founded and incorporated as the Clare Valley Racing Club in November 1888, the Clare Valley Cup was first run and won seven years later in 1895.

Located an hour and a half north of Adelaide, the Clare Valley is an iconic and historic wine region, renowned for its white wines, especially Riesling.

The Clare Valley Racing Club has been a stalwart of the Clare Valley community for over a century, growing and evolving along with the region and witnessing the highs and lows that the region has experienced.

The 128th running of the Clare Valley Cup will be an opportunity to spend a day in the picturesque and historic Clare Valley, enjoying fantastic racing action on the track and indulge in wonderful food and brilliant local wine off the track.

The Clare Valley Racing Club and Country Racing South Australia is looking towards the next 128 years. The Club is investing in sustainability practices and infrastructure, including a solar system to reduce energy costs.

Racing SA recently announced a substantial investment in infrastructure across South Australia and the Clare Valley Racing Club will benefit from this with a grant going towards improving race day stables with new flooring and repairing to roofing.
