Murray Bridge Racing Club Launches 2023 Gold Cup

The 2023 Murray Bridge Racing Club Gold Cup was officially launched last Friday at a luncheon with special guest speakers, legendary trainers Peter Moody and John Sadler, along with light comedy from Mickey D. The Murray Bridge Gold Cup is held on a Saturday for the first time, the Listed race will be run on Saturday 7 October.

A fantastic turnout to the event, with those in attendance keen racing enthusiast and supports of the Murray Bridge community. Those in attendance were hanging on every word from Peter Moody and John Sadler as they told yarns about their time in racing and their working relationship.

The Cup Launch Luncheon also included the announcement of the brand new sponsorship agreement between Murray Bridge Racing Club and Thomas Foods International that includes the naming rights for the racecourse which will be known as the ‘Thomas Farms Racecourse Murray Bridge’.

During the luncheon, guests also heard from former jockey and current Racing SA Industry Development and Training Officer, Clare Lindop, who spoke about the work that Lincoln Park Stud has undertaken with caring for and retraining retired thoroughbreds.

The day was a brilliant opportunity to support and celebrate the Murray Bridge Racing Club and the upcoming Gold Cup Day which includes a number of support racing, including the recently announced Moorundi 2-year-old race.
