Country racing in South Australia is playing a prominent role in showcasing the quality of our racecourses, assets and infrastructure for an international audience.
Strathalbyn Racing Club recently hosted a delegation from the Korean Racing Association along with the Managing Director from Simtrack, showcasing the state-of-the-art, South Australian built starting barriers.
The Korean delegation included Mr In-Chan Choi, KRA Assistant Manager (starter), Mr Ki-Woo Kim, KRA Manager (Head Starter), and Mr Jung-Hoon Nam (Simtrack Korean Agent) who had travelled to South Australia as they look to purchase new barriers. The Korean Racing Association oversees the three tracks in Korea - Jeju Island, Busan and Seoul.
Kristy Martin, CEO of Strathalbyn Racing Club, hosted the delegates, providing an in depth tour of the facilities at Strathalbyn and giving them a great opportunity to inspect and examine the barriers along with Mr Kieren Sims, Managing Director of the barriers manufacturer, Simtrack.
Kristy Martin said, reflecting on the visit, “It was a fantastic opportunity to strength our relationship with an international racing body. I’m always thrilled to show off Strathalbyn Racing Club and share how wonderful this is as a venue for racing.”
The delegation was treated to a lunch Lake Breeze Wines, a local Langhorne Creek winery, showcasing amazing South Australian food and wine. The Langhonre Creek Wine Region is a proud partner of the Strathalbyn Racing Club.
Simtrack is a company based in Mount Barker, producing starting barriers and rails for a number of racecourses in South Australia, nationally and globally.
It is fantastic to see a regional South Australian business working hand in hand with Country Racing SA clubs to have a positive impact on racing globally.
Once the barriers ordered by the Korean Racing Association are nearing completion, the delegation will return to South Australia for a final inspection. We look forward to welcoming them back to regional South Australia.
Catch the final race day of Strathalbyn’s 2022/23 season on Wednesday 31 May as they partake in Australia’s Biggest Morning Tea. Get your tickets today via Moshtix.
