Munz hoping Passive Aggressive follows in Shoals' footsteps

Passive Aggressive is chasing a second Sangster Stakes win in five years for billionaire owner Jonathan Munz at Morphettville on Saturday.

The Grahame Begg trained mare will be hoping to follow in the footsteps of Shoals who flashed home from the back for Anthony Freedman to win the 2018 edition of the Group 1 sprint for fillies and mares.

Munz’s famous red and white striped silks have been enjoying a super run largely due to the deeds of Australia’s newest turf star Giga Kick and Begg is hoping the inside draw won’t be a disadvantage.

“It’s the quickest way home,’’ Begg said on SEN.

“They seem to be edging off the fence of late, there looks to be good speed drawn outside her with Seradess, and obviously Marabi will roll forward, so hopefully she can take a trail,’’ he said.

Mick Price and Michael Kent Jnr saddle up last start Redelva Stakes winner I’mlovin’ya, chasing their first Sangster win in partnership.

Price is no stranger to Sangster success winning his first in 1998 with Spirit Of Love, a second with Bel Mar in 2009 before Secret Agenda won the 2017 edition with Damien Oliver in the saddle but Kent Jnr said the three-year-old faced a big task.

“She’s the lowest rated filly up against the big girls,’’ Kent Jnr said.

“The hard part is getting her to rebound quickly (from her first-up win).

“She’s drawn beautifully in barrier four and if she can run top four that would be a dream for the owners,’’ he said.
