What’s On – April 2023
With Easter falling on the second weekend of the month, April is set to be a massive month of country racing! This month sees the Oakbank Easter Festival introduce a brand new event as part of the Easter Long Weekend, plus there is cup action in the south east of the State and Port Augusta kicks off its season towards the end of the month! April has already got underway with a fantastic day of racing at Gawler & Barossa Jockey Club with the 2023 Barossa Cup being run and won along with some mid-week racing at Port Lincoln.

Oakbank Easter Festival Friday 7 April - Monday 10 April
Oakbank Easter Festival in 2023 will be bigger than ever with two huge days of racing and for the first time there will be a massive day of music on Good Friday to get the weekend started!
Oakbank Soundtracks is a brand new concert which will be headlined by Wolfmother and Adelaide icons, The Superjesus! There will also be a number of other national and local acts to provide an unrivalled day of music, kicking off an exhilarating Oakbank Easter Festival.
On Easter Saturday there’s a huge day of racing, fashion, food and kids activities. This is the perfect way to spend Easter Saturday as a family, with a performance by Peter Combe and the Happy Leonard’s happening after the final race. During the day there will be the annual Fashion at the Races competition with multiple categories to enter and plenty of amazing prizes up for grabs, so it is the perfect excuse to get dressed up in your racing best!

Clare Valley Saturday 8 April
The iconic Clare Valley Easter Races are on Easter Saturday and it is set to be an amazing day on and off the track. The Clare Valley Racing Club presents its TAB Easter Race Day on Saturday 8th April 2023
A quality race programme set in a relaxing picturesque location with fully licensed bars, food vendors, local wines, TAB, Bookmakers. There is also a selection of hospitality options plus Kelly Sports for Kids on Track, Face Painter, and much more…

Penola Sunday 9 April
Situated in the heart of the picturesque Coonawarra wine region, the 2023 Digiorgio Family Wines Penola Cup is the perfect way to spend Easter Sunday in the south east of South Australia. The day will be full of excitement on and off the track including Fashion at the Races, kids activities, great food and beverage options, and not to mention an action-packed 8-race card!
Port Augusta Sunday 23 April
April sees the opening of the 2023 season for Port Augusta Racing Club. The club has a massive season planned ahead, and are kicking it off with ‘Let the Races Begin’ Race Day!
There is plenty for everyone during the day including plenty of racing, Pastoral Hotel Saloon for an icy cold drink, on course bookmakers, Tote & televised racing.
Port Augusta’s central location sees it as the heart of racing in the Spencer Gulf, and its facilities make it a premier site for racing. With the majestic Flinders Ranges as the backdrop to the Port Augusta racecourse, it has become famous for its breathtaking view.
The Port Augusta Race Club is located only 5 minutes from the center of the town and 30 minutes from the popular Flinders Ranges. If you haven't been to the races for a while, now is the time to plan for this year's events, as the course has been transformed with new viewing areas perfect for catching up with friends.

What Else is on…
There is a tonne of country racing action happening around the state throughout April including mid-week races at Strathalbyn (Wednesday 12th), Balaklava (Wednesday 19th) and ANZAC Day races at Gawler & Barossa Jockey Club (Tuesday 25th). Port Lincoln will be closing out their season this month (Sunday 16th). Naracoorte Racing Club is hosting Stock Agents Race Day to close out the month (Sunday 30th).
