Racing SA is pleased to announce the appointment of highly respected tourism administrator Penny Lion to the Racing SA Board.
Ms Lion spent more than a decade in senior roles with Tourism Australia, first as the organisation’s Head of Business Events and then as Executive General Manager of Events. Prior to this, she was the UK General Manager for Cievents (now FCM Meetings & Events) which is part of the global Flight Centre Travel Group.
Lion joins Rob Rorrison and Cos Cardone, who have both been returned as Directors for another three years, all three being appointed by an independent panel and endorsed by Katrine Hildyard MP, Minister for Recreation, Sport and Racing.
The Board has elected Rob Rorrison to continue as Chair, while long serving Director Grant Harrison has been elected as Deputy Chair.
“Penny brings a wealth of experience to the Racing SA Board after leading Tourism Australia’s business events division for almost 11 years, and we are fortunate to have someone of her calibre elected as a Director.
"Penny has garnered respect across the globe for the successful business events campaigns, and consumer campaigns she launched during her time at Tourism Australia, and is highly regarded by all who have worked closely with her.
“We look forward to Penny’s input as we continue to grow the thoroughbred industry in South Australia,” said Mr Rorrison.
