Weekend wrap: Lorensini returns with a bang

Former Adelaide jockey Jarrod Lorensini returned to SA in style taking riding honours with a double at Morphettville on Saturday.

Lorensini made a successful visit back in 2017 winning his first race in Adelaide for more than 10 years when he won the Listed W H Wylie Stakes aboard Lope De Capio.

And he produced two perfectly rated front running rides to get Takshaka home in the opening race for the Melbourne Cup winning training partnership of Ciaron Maher and David Eustace before John MacMillan’s Texan Windstorm was never headed later in the day.

Peter and Belinda Blanch’s Boolcunda King enhanced his growing reputation when he cut rivals down on the back of a perfect Barend Vorster Morphettville Parks ride, while former Hong Kong galloper Solar Gale broke throughout for his first win on Australian soil winning the final heat of Gytrash Series.

Jason Holder kick started a good weekend when the talented Hopon Harry proved to a smart for Oh Mo in a heat of the Happy Trails Series.

The leading rider took that form to Gawler on Sunday when he produced a double winning with the Bill Bogarts-trained Tequila Sunset before Applied proved too smart for rivals late in the day for trainer Philippe Huserot.
