Bold Star to break drought in Gawler Cup?

Former top sprinter Bold Star will chase his first win for more than 1000 days in Friday’s $107,250 Gawler Cup (1500m).

The Gordon Richards and Damien Moyle-trained galloper last greeted the judge after winning the Listed Kensington Stakes at Flemington back in January 2020 and will have to carry the top weight after receiving 60kg with Lachlan Neindorf booked to ride.

Despite his long run of outs, Bold Star heads to Gawler in good form having finished on the heels of the placegetters at his past three runs.

Murray Bridge Gold Cup winning rider Kayla Crowther will partner Call Me Shamus with 58.5kg in the feature for Phillip Stokes while Todd Pannell has been booked to ride Montign who will back-up up after running fourth in last week’s Murray Bridge feature.

Local hopes will sit with the Aaron Bain-trained Toyetic who will tackle his hometown feature at his first runs back from a spell.
