Alana Livesey’s steady rise in the South Australian apprentice riding ranks continued in September.
Livesey boasted the best strike-rate of the Racing SA Apprentice Academy riding at 24 per cent runners to winners while producing one of the best rides of her short career to win the Mindarie-Halidon Cup aboard Magic Ride for Ryan Balfour.
She also had a provincial double at Gawler.
The next generation of riders had a day out at Morphettville on September 24 winning six of the nine races with Ellis Wong and Lachlan Neindorf both riding doubles.
Wong’s two wins came aboard Trumpsta and Neodium for the Phillip Stokes stable while Neindorf’s solid start to the new season came with wins on Hallstatt and Hankstar.

September was a rollercoaster for talented rider Stacey Callow.
Just two hours after posting her first metropolitan winner aboard Territory Titan at Morphettville, the high quickly turned into a low when Callow suffered a race fall and subsequently broke her collarbone, sidelining her for a couple of months.
Murray Bridge will hold a special place in the heart of Britney Wong who landed his first winner aboard Lancelotto for boss Jon O’Connor while Ben Price’s status as SA’s top apprentice was further enhanced riding the most winners of the academy with seven wins throughout September.
As well as their local success, SA apprentices were also sourced by interstate trainers and rode at 15 meetings over the border in September.
