Mindarie-Halidon Cup - Recap

The Melbourne Cup of the Mallee may not stop the nation, but it defintely stopped the community, with a sell out crowd of 2000 on hand to take in a day of racing action at the 2022 Mindarie-Halidon Cup.

Mindarie-Halidon Racing Club Secretary, Krystina Durdin was extremely happy with the support leading in to, and on the day of the Cup.

"We received a hug amount of positive feedback on the day from the public and the racing industry," she said.

"The atmosphere of the day was fantastic, and everyone got behind all aspects of the day.

"A race day like this doesn't happen with out the support of volunteers and community, so a big thankyou must go to them also," Durdin said.

The Mindarie-Halidon location is a true picnic race experience with people camping out at the Halidon track, and the crowd were at the gates early ready to embark on a great day out.

Once inside punters were eager to set themselves up trackside to get that prime viewing location to cheer home a winner or two.

Like any country racing meeting, there were social groups, racing tradiotionalist's, families, and those who enjoy racing fashion trackside.

The main race was hotly contested with apprentice, Alana Livesey steering home the Ryan Balfour-trained Magical Ride edging out Kalamon (ridden by Jake Toeroek).

Off the track, the crowd converged on the Fashion At The Races 'cat-walk' to show their support for those showing off some amazing racing fashion.

With over 40 entrants across all categories, the judges had a tough task in selecting their winners. The crowd didn't make it any easier with a few favourites of their own too ????

The final winners were

???? Best Dressed Lady - Jaimee Bruggemann

???? Runner Up Lady - Mak Campbell

???? Best Dressed Man - Darren Wilson

???? Millinery - Mandi Wilson
