Top jockey Jason Holder heads to Melbourne on Saturday partnering Dalasan in the Group 1 Sir Rupert Clarke Stakes (1400m) at Caulfield.
It’s the second time Holder has gone interstate with the Leon Macdonald and Andrew Gluyas-trained entity after travelling to Sydney and finishing third in the 2021 Doncaster.
Dalasan resumed with a gritty first-up win in the Listed Leon Macdonald Stakes and Holder said the horse had taken plenty pf improvement from his first-up run.
“I know he went in favourite the other day, but I thought it was a very good win given how much improvement he had in front of him,’’ Holder said.
“He’s been a good horse, I get a lot of confidence when I jump aboard him, he’s my favourite,’’ he said.
The Macdonald/Gluyas stable also have Hope At Hand in a Thousand Guineas Prelude while smart mare Another Award resumes in the Group 1 How Now Stakes over 1200m.
Another Award finished fourth in the Group 1 Sangster Stakes behind Snapdancer before running fourth in the Group 2 Proud Miss Stakes.
“It’s nice to be going over riding three smart horses,’’ Holder said.
“Leon asked me the other day what my record was like at Caulfield. I actually finished fourth in a Caulfield Cup aboard Markham (1997) but that was a long time ago.
“Hopefully we can go over and get some of the Victorian prizemoney, they get enough of ours,’’ he said.
