2022 Roxby Downs Cup - Recap

An event marked by many on their calendar each year, the Roxby Downs Cup draws a strong crowd from across the state offering an opportunity to take in the corporate hospitality, or kick back track side and enjoy the great country racing atmosphere.

At the track the sun was shiningand although it was quite windy, this did not deter a strong crowd turning out to support the Roxby Downs Racing Club.

Roxby Downs Racing Club President, Cornelius Castle said he was thankful for the support from all involved on the day.

"We have some amazing sponsors who continually support the club and our local community.

"The weather was a little mixed on the day, but we can't thank the amazing crowd who attended our Cup Day and really looked to enjoy themselves track side," he said.

The main race of the day was taken out by the Trevor and Julie Day-trained Lettemgo with Felicity Atkinson in the saddle. Felicity also took out the Jockey Challenge on the day with two wins across the six races.

There was plenty of action off the track, with a strong turn out for the Fashion At The Races event.

We saw competitors from 5-years of age through to the adults, there was plenty of support coming from the crowd for each category.

With tones of orange, blue and yellow on show to match the country back drop, the job of the judges across all categories was made difficult.

As always, there was plenty of showmanship for the men's entrants, but it was the ladies winner, Jade Richards who took the eye of the judges for the ladies category taking out the best dressed sash. The top three was rounded out by Tracey Miles and Sonia Cameron.
