Port Augusta FATR Ladies Winner

It was a cool afternoon at the Port Augusta Racing Club for their 2022 Cup, but that didn't stop a strong Fashion At The Races entrant list turn up in some amazing outfits to be crowned best dressed.

Ladies winner, Kerrie Foulis was kind enough to give us some of her time to have a chat about her winning outfit, fashion style and racing fashion.

Tell us about your winning outfit. What were you wearing?

I wore the idi dress by ASOS. It's a floral embroidered midi dress with crew neck, cutwork detailing, lace trim, blouson sleeves, button cuffs, and keyhole back. Paired with a stunning millinery from Queensland designer Tracy Mackinnon featuring vintage cloth, braid trim and pheasant feathers topping it off. I took the pink from the pheasant feathers and accessorised the outfit with a dusty pink chevron embossed box bag, and Milleni bow heels topped with sparkles in my earrings and wedding band.

What was your first racing event and how has your style evolved since?

My first race meet and FOTF competition was back in 2016 without any of the right attire. After falling in love with the fashions on the fields I decided to re-enter this year and go all out. The look was very different to how I would normally shop prepare, however meeting the criteria and the details is the fun of it.

What are your favourite labels for racewear?

I don't have favourite labels. It's all in the look you can spend thousands and not be recognised or spend a dime and be the best dressed as soon as you enter the gate.

Tell us about your makeup. What look did you choose and what key products did you use?

My makeup was kept simple and elegant, as I believe my fascinator was the stand out just sitting above my eyes they complimented each other drawing attention from the judges and crowd.

How did you choose a hairstyle? What styling process did your locks go through?

My hair also was kept sleek and classy to keep my fascinator being the staple piece. My decision for a bun was also due to weather conditions being windy a sleek updo made sure it stayed put all day.

How would you describe your personal style?

My appearance and styling, as my friends say, is always on point however most of the time is spent in scrubs or active-wear.

How do you spend your time when you’re not at racing events?

When I'm not trackside I am nurse at the Port Augusta Hospital by day, by night I am a fifo wife and mum to four children who are my harshest critics yet biggest fans.

Why should everyone book in a day at the races this year?

Definitely do yourself a favour and book a day at a regional race meet such as Port Augusta, Quorn, or Hawker to name my favourites as the excitement, the atmosphere, location and local entertainment are a step above the rest.
