Weekend Wrap: Honours shared on 10-race Murray Bridge card

It was a day of doubles at Murray Bridge on Saturday with South Australia’s leading riders sharing the honours across the massive 10-race card.

Jake Toeroek, Todd Pannell, Barend Vorster and Campbell Rawiller all had riding doubles while Jason Holder walked away with one of the day’s Racing Rewards SA $100,000 features aboard Legless Lady for Leon Macdonald and Andrew Gluyas.

Toeroek went into the meeting with a strong book of rides and claimed the opening two races winning the Racing Rewards 2yo feature with Klabel on debut for Richard and Chantelle Jolly before Aadelad scored first-up from a break.

Rawiller was quickly to the fore combing with Victorian galloper Prince Of Helena before So Say Angel gave him a race to race double when she scored a dominant win for the Ryan Balfour stable.

Vorster’s double came aboard Hasslefree and then Zoffala for old bosses Tony and Calvin McEvoy while Pannell was victorious in combination with Zoulah for Will Clarken and Set To Prophet for the Anthony and Sam Freedman stable.

But the most impressive win of the day was arguably Legless Lady.

In a race that many expected to see the talented Karacasu return to winning form and justify his short price in the market, Legless Lady upstaged her rivals to win three lengths and stamp herself as a filly with a big future.

The win her third in succession and a result made even better with stablemate Eyes Never Lie working home to grab second spot.
