Ciaron Maher and David Eustace will launch what shapes as a big Adelaide Racing Carnival at Murray Bridge this weekend in the $202,250 Magic Millions SA 2yo Classic (1200m).
The Maher/Eustace stable have two nominations in the feature – Adament and Veloce Carro – while they will have bigger targets at Morphettville in April and May.
Adament is an unraced daughter of Hellbent from Unswerving who fetched $300,000 at last year’s Gold Coast Magic Millions Yearling Sale while Veloce Carro was purchased for $100,000 at the same sale.
Both horses come out of Cranbourne trials in early February.
Adament wasn’t asked to do a lot running fourth with Jye McNeil in the saddle while John Allen rode Veloce Carro who went to the line in the blanket finish.
Tony and Calvin McEvoy have three nominations – Caldente, who was a $330,000 purchase on the Gold Coast, the well named Twin Stars (by Zoustar out of Pearl Star) who was a $225,000 buy at the same sale while Shesabomb was knocked down for just $15,000 in Adelaide.
Victorian horseman Shane Nichols has nominated Blonde Venture for Murray Bridge after dead-heating in the Tasmanian Magic Millions 2yo Classic at Launceston last month with local Lachlan Neindorf in the saddle.
MEANWHILE the Maher/Eustace stable confirmed exciting sprinting mare Marabi will head to Group 1 Sangster Stakes at Morphettville on May 7 after she took her unbeaten sequence to seven winning last weekend’s Group 1 Oakleigh Plate at Caulfield.
“Whether she has a run (in between) we will work out,” Maher said on RSN’s Correct Weight.
“Every time she goes to the races, she keeps raising the bar. I thought the race in Adelaide (Sangster) will be a nice target for her,’’ he said.
The stable won last year’s Group 1 SA Derby with Explosive Jack.
