Fashion At The Races - The Autumn Change

With multiple Fashion At The Races sashes, stylist and model, Jaimee-Lea Bruggemann has given us her thoughts on how to navigate the changes from Summer to Autumn leading in to a big March of FATR events.

As we leave the summer months and head into autumn, it can be very difficult deciding what to wear, especially in March, as it's still warm but considered autumn in the judges’ eyes.

People tend to lean more towards longer sleeves, felts, leathers and more autumn colours such as oranges, and steer away from those short sleeves and bright colours we saw over the summer months.

However, it can be very hard deciding what to wear, especially over march while it is still quiet warm. A few tips are;

  • Try and incorporate those autumn colours; reds, oranges, greens, dark blues, etc
  • Wear trans seasonal millinery/headwear
  • Bring in metallics and fabrics such as feathers, leather, felt, etc
  • Closed toe shoes when colder
  • Switch to longer sleeves, when hot I recommend trying sheer sleeves, as this will keep you cool but still looks like autumn fashion

Although the judges do follow certain guidelines, if you want to wear something – then wear it!! Being comfortable and confident in your outfit is key and can defiantly show on the stage.

We are heading in to a run of Fashion At The Races events, so keep up to date with them all by signing up for the FATR Newsletter.
