Morphettville trainer Peter Blanch heads down the highway with two live chances at Murray Bridge today.
Talented mare Puissance Dusoleil is marked a $6.00 second favourite in the Benchmark 58 on the back of an encouraging return to racing behind Li’l Hank while Muffla has been backed from $5 into $3.40 with tab.com.au in the Benchmark 54.
Blanch said they were quick to abort a winter campaign with Puissance Dusoleil after she showed a dislike to the soft surfaces.
“She trialled quite well leading into last prep, but we quickly worked out she doesn’t like wet tracks at all,’’ Blanch said.
“I said to Johnny (owner John Martin) we would either have to step our way through winter or spell again, we decided to stop.
“She spelled really well, and we’ve benefitted from that. She’s matured and I think she’s finally back to somewhere near the form she showed in her three-year-old season,’’ he said.
Muffla made good ground first-up from a spell behind Star Of Chaos to finish eighth, beaten a touch over two lengths, on the Parks track at Morphettville.
“He’s a horse I think will get a trip in time,’’ Blanch said.
“He relaxes out of the barriers, this is another stepping stone towards that, but he’s been placed in town, and I think he’ll run really well.
“They look nice races for both,’’ he said.
