Country Cup Treble in Sight

For a trainer to win one Cup is a great achievement, but this weekend we see the Karen Byrnes-trained Royal Bower going for three consecutive Cup wins from as many starts.

“Royal Bower was purchased online and a trainer was needed for the Roxby Downs Cup.

“It was lucky I was in the right spot at the right time.” Byrnes said on coming to train Royal Bower.

Having won the Roxby Downs and Midarie-Halidon Cup's, Byrnes has been preparing Royal Bower for the Jamestown Cup.

“She just ticks along. Goes up to the track and does a couple of laps or up the hill, she’s absolutely loving life.”

In what will be the first trip to Jamestown for Byrnes and Royal Bower, there was thought that the track may not suit the mare.

“Barrier four with Claudia Lions on board, she should go well.

“To win three Cups with Royal Bower would be very good, because she’s just an easy horse to win.”  Byrnes said.
