Travis treble a tremendous weekend highlight

Travis Doudle capped a big week for his Morphettville stable by landing his first metropolitan training treble on Saturday.

Just five days after his Listed victory in last Monday’s Morphettville Guineas with Struck By, Doudle had a day out on the Parks track.

Promising two-year-old Brother’s Shadow kicked things off when he took his unbeaten record to two, smart three-year-old Casino Seventeen then made it successive wins this campaign, before speedy filly Spanish Heirloom recorded her fourth win in succession against the older horses.

Paul Gatt was aboard Casino Seventeen, the veteran hoop sharing riding honours with Todd Pannell with a double.

Pannell’s two wins saw him draw within seven of Jessica Eaton on the Adelaide metropolitan riders’ premiership.

Sue and Jason Jaensch produced a training double while the most exciting win of the day came from Will Clarken’s Beau Rossa, who scored impressively first-up from a spell.

Meanwhile at Port Lincoln on Sunday Bramfield made amends for a luckless run in the Port Lincoln Cup behind Dexter You Devil nine days earlier to win his third successive Kimba Cup for Darryl Carrison.

It was a picture-perfect ride by Todd Pannell who stalked Analytica before the pair raced away and Bramfield posted a soft win.

Across the border Behemoth was brave when running third in the All-Star Mile. His effort landed connections $360,000 and took his prizemoney beyond the $2.5 million barrier.

SA will also have representation in big races in Melbourne and Sydney this weekend.

Will Clarken’s Bella Vella is returning south to run in the Group 1 William Reid Stakes at Moonee Valley on Friday night, while Leon Macdonald and Andrew Gluyas’ Dalasan heads north to run in the George Ryder Stakes (1500m) at Rosehill in Sydney as he chases that elusive Group 1 victory with Kerrin McEvoy booked to ride.
