RACE 1 - 1:40PM Thank you Mr Ludwig Maiden Plate (1000 METRES)
HI SMOKEY was well in the market when sixth behind Starspangled Banner last time. He was placed at Gawler four starts back and should be fighting out the finish despite a tricky gate. MAI TIME is making his SA debut for Scott McIntyre and has been placed at six starts in NSW. SQUIZZY MIZZY is a watch on debut for Dennis O’Leary. TOP UP is on debut and draws an inside gate.
SELECTIONS: HI SMOKEY, Mai Time, Squizzy Mizzy
RACE 2 - 2:15PM Thank you to our NRC Committee Maiden Plate (1800 METRES)
ANOTHER WHINE ran well finishing third behind Call Me Archer at Gawler two starts back. He got well back last time before making ground behind No Strings and draws perfectly in barrier four – plus the 1800m looks ideal. KWEEN must be kept safe here although well beaten in two runs in Victoria, the latest behind Angelic Scent (who was placed in the Morphettville Guineas on Monday). The Stokes stable doesn’t have too many runner in the South-East. UNDERSTATEMENT was placed at Murray Bridge three starts back and will find this easier than last start at Ballarat. GONDOLIER is a 22-start maiden and has been placed 10 times. The inside gate brings him right into this. SALUTE THE CANNONS was placed here two starts back and was in the market behind Ever Onward last time.
SELECTIONS: ANOTHER WHINE, Kween, Understatement
RACE 3 - 2:50PM Thank you to Mr & Mrs Biggins Maiden Handicap (1430 METRES)
A few chances here, including ASHADY AMBER, who was well backed last time when fourth behind Grey Vitality at Morphettville. She has the winkers going on, draws well and looks hard to beat. BACK IN ACTION was runner-up behind Four Outlaws last time here and has claims despite a wide gate. DANRENA was runner-up behind Fenceline here last time and must be respected from a good barrier.
SELECTIONS: ASHADY AMBER, Back In Action, Danrena
RACE 4 - 3:25PM Thank you to our sponsors of Family Day Benchmark 64 Handicap (Heat 2 Prov Series) (2000 METRES)
ACE ATTACK is well graded here on the strength of his Oakbank win two starts back. This is a drop in class on last time behind The Red Sea at Gawler. He’s poorly drawn but helped with the claim. CENTENARY SHOT has been knocking on the door with placings at his past couple and has won four of eight this track and trip. CUBAN TOONITE ran well up in class when third behind Black Sail three stats back and should be right in a race like this. BRONSKI ran well in the Naracoorte Cup two starts back behind Von Costa Glass and has missed a placed just once in six starts here on his home track. O’MIZZNA raced on speed to win at Penola last. She also has a good record. ROUGH BEAUTY was a Gawler winner two starts back and draws well. IT’S CHOUX TIME was fourth at Swan Hill two runs back which is good form for a race like this.
SELECTIONS: ACE ATTACK, Centenary Shot, Bronski
RACE 5 - 4:00PM Thank you to our sponsors of Publicans Day Benchmark 58 Handicap (1000 METRES)
Looks to be a race with plenty of speed. DESERT SPIRIT trialled smartly late last year well before starting favourite at Morphettville. He was a winner here three starts back, has the claim for Ben Price and looks the one to run down. JUSTA JILLAROO is also a frontrunner who was very good when winning first-up from a spell before starting favourite when fourth behind Smartkap at KI last time. GAMBLER’S GIRL led them up behind Little Rich Boy last time and that form stood up at Morphettville on Cup Day. COOL MAGNUM is a winner at his only start here and drops in class. IN THE SUN was a Colac winner last time out and has won four races. WANDO BEL was a Casterton winner three starts back and led when second to Wild Willy here last time.
SELECTIONS: DESERT SPIRIT, Cool Magnum, Gambler’s Girl
Race 6 - 4:35PM Happy 100th Birthday Pat Dowling Benchmark 68 Handicap (1430 METRES)
ROYAL MILE has hasn’t finished further back than second in all four starts and hit the line strongly at Penola behind Dissolute last time. He draws a good barrier and looks hard to beat. PEWTER has a good record here on his home track and was favourite last time behind Saduka. He’s won eight races and looks right in this with a claim for Ben Price. RHYTHMATIC has a good record here and was strong late behind stablemate Rohlon Drunk last time. He draws the inside and has a good record here. AULD REGRET wasn’t beaten far at his SA debut and looks an improver while stablemate MASTERATI was runner-up behind Final Chance at Clare last time and draws a good barrier. GREETINGS NED has been placed at his past couple and has claims.
SELECTIONS: ROYAL MILE, Rhythmatic, Pewter
RACE 7 - 5:10PM Thank you to our sponsors of Tradies Day Benchmark 64 Handicap (1200 METRES)
ATOMIC TEXIE was runner-up behind Morty at Penola before going to Terang and winning his maiden. He draws a good gate and looks very good value in early markets. LOVE MAGIC was a winner here five runs back and was game behind Annika at Morphettville last time which is good form for a race like this. Drawn wide but looks well placed. CANIDAE maps well from barrier five and was beaten less than length in a good race at Morphettville three starts back. WILD WILLY has won two of three starts, the latest at Penola, and looks right in this. HELCOLORE has been placed at two of his past three and should be in the mix here. LONGMIRE has missed a placed just twice in 11 starts here and must be respected. OLATUNJI has won two of five here and was solid behind Rhythmatic at Bordertown back in December. He has won two of six first-up. DISSOLUTE was strong winning at Penola at his SA debut and must be respected.
SELECTIONS: ATOMIC TEXIE, Love Magic, Canidae
