Emerging SA trainer Travis Doudle is using today’s Morphettville meeting as the first step towards winning his home-town cup in Port Lincoln.
Doudle has his smart middle-distance runner Analytica running first-up over 1600m at headquarters in a strong benchmark 86 event.
Acquired from Patrick Payne in mid-2020, Analytica has raced eight times for his SA trainer, notching two wins and two placings and ending his last campaign with a run in the Listed Murray Bridge Cup in October.
Doudle started his training career in Port Lincoln before moving to Adelaide and in the past couple of years has made significant strides within local metropolitan ranks.
More good performances from Analytica will help continue that momentum and racing manager for Travis Doudle Racing, Stephen Theodore, says the horse’s campaign is aimed at one target.
“It’ll be a little bit short for him distance wise,” Stephen said.
“But he’s been set for Travis’s home town cup at Port Lincoln.
“Analytica will be third up into the Port Lincoln Cup, which Travis is really desperate to try and win this year.”
Analytica is listed at around $10 in early TAB markets, behind favourite Ritratto ($3.10).
The $52,250 Port Lincoln Cup will be run over 1960m on Friday, March 5.
Last year’s Cup was taken out by Dexter You Devil.
