Clarken's Morphettville trial winner Hong Kong bound

Leading SA trainer Will Clarken's impressive trial winner Anilla looks destined to start his racing career in Hong Kong.

The unraced three-year-old gelding was set to debut at Morphettville tomorrow but was scratched, with the horse undergoing vet checks while connections negotiate a potential sale.

Part-owner John Kelton said connections were inundated with offers for the son of Valentia following his impressive six-length trial win at Morphettville on Monday.

“There have been some offers,” Kelton said. “(The sale) is not completed but it’s in the process.

“He won’t run tomorrow. We’ll just see what happens with the vetting and offers.

“These things can fall over at any stage but that’s more than likely be where he goes.”

Anilla’s scratching has left the Tony and Calvin McEvoy-trained Zoushine as a $1.75 favourite with tab.com.au, ahead of Daily Spirit ($3.80) and the Ryan Balfour-trained debutant Outlaws Revenge ($4.80) who heads to the races on the back of two impressive jump-outs at Morphettville.

Zoushine was heavily backed first-up from a spell when beaten into second spot at Ballarat before a good run at Flemington in the Group 3 Red Roses behind Written Beauty last time out.

While the form guide shows a ‘0’ next to his name, Zoushine was only beaten 3.45 lengths down the Flemington straight and boats two placings in Listed company from his three Morphettville starts.
