EACH-WAY: MY GOLDEN CHAIN (Race 2)
VALUE: AUSSIE SOJOURN (Race 8)
RACE 1 - 12:56PM Sanders Fodder / SABOIS Distance Maiden Plate (2121 METRES)
ADVENTURE WORLD was heavily backed at his Australian debut and covered ground throughout when down the track at Murray Bridge. He won a recent Morphettville trial over 1200m and jumps to 2121m here. Obviously has ability. Todd Pannell rode the horse in that trial and takes the ride on Travis Doudle’s MR POCKET who has been placed his past two and made good ground behind Biarchi, who tackles the Oaks today. That’s a good form line for a race like this and he gets his chance. His stablemate PENONG should appreciate getting out in distance. BOLSHOI BOY was placed at Geelong three starts back and looks an improver in this class.
SELECTIONS: MR POCKET, Adventure World, Penong
RACE 2 - 1:36PM Fabhats / SABOIS Maiden Plate (1100 METRES)
Very even field with a few of these progressive types. MY GOLDEN CHAIN is a 5yo on debut for Dan Clarken and Oopy MacGillivray and comes off an easy 5.5 length Morphettville trial win. Stable have a very good strike-rate and he draws perfectly and looks some value. SIYAADEH was a $3.80 favourite at Morphettville on debut, was a touch slow to jump and raced greenly and keenly beaten 2.2 lengths behind Tradewind and Echoes In Eternity who ran well at Flemington on Tuesday. She’ll be better for the run and draws nicely. MONTEPULCIANO was form in betting on debut behind stablemate Alleboom and has trialled well behind Tuesday’s Morphettville winner Beau Rossa. STRUCK BY was in the market on debut behind Deep Speed at Morphettville and bolted in a recent Morphettville trial. CHICO FIESTRO led them up on debut and was only grabbed late by After You. I’M KENNY wasn’t beaten far by Tradewind on debut.
SELECTIONS: MY GOLDEN CHAIN, Siyaadeh, Montepulciano
RACE 3 - 2:16PM Kingsford Hotel / SABOIS Fillies & Mares Maiden Plate (1200 METRES)
GAZE GRISE has shown plenty of promise. She chased home Amuri on debut and was again strong through the line behind Extra Time and Celestine last time. That looks very good form for this race and she gets her chance from gate five. MERVA drifted in betting on debut at Mornington behind Pride Of Jenni who ran well at Flemington on Cup Day. The McEvoy stable have made some gear changes with the blinkers going off and she’s sure to run well. WILD IMAGINATION trialled when running second behind Short Stories at Morphettville. She settled back and worked through the line strongly and the stable is on fire. Any of the top three can win and the market reflects this. ARCTIC FLORA has been placed seven times but just finds it hard to win.
SELECTIONS: GAZE GRISE, Merva, Wild Imagination
RACE 4 - 2:56PM Coopers Brewery Class Two Handicap (1516 METRES)
WEDGETAIL was well tried in a strong form race at Morphettville three starts back but his subsequent runs have been only fair. He ran in a Group 2 Autumn Stakes at Caulfield in February and he’s not going to find too many better opportunities. BOOMER BEACH has a win and three 2nd’s from six starts here. The gelding draws to be on speed from gate three with Todd Pannell riding. FRANKEL STAR was a winner here three starts back and his subsequent two runs at Murray Bridge have been sound, speed and in the firing line throughout. OUR DEEP AGENDA is a former McEvoy horse now with Jon O’Connor. His only win came at this track and trip.
SELECTIONS: WEDGETAIL, Boomer Beach, Frankel Star
RACE 5 - 3:31PM Adelaide Plains Bloodstock Benchmark 58 Handicap (2121 METRES)
AZZUREOUS has the right form line for this beating all but Darlamax at Morphettville two runs back before he didn’t have a lot go right behind Sebonna at Naracoorte last time. The form out of that measured up in town on Tuesday. BACK POCKET will get back in the run but he charged home behind Karpool Khan at Murray Bridge last time and looks a danger. FLORIANO is a half to Alcopop who has been around the mark and was specked at a price in a stronger race last time. LINE DANCER will make his own luck from the draw and did appreciate dropping back in trip last time. FREE ATBARA should be on speed from a good barrier and capable of running a cheeky race down in the weights. HAPPY ATOM draws well and did beat Back Pocket and Karpool Khan two back.
SELECTIONS: AZZUREOUS, Back Pocket, Floriano
RACE 6 - 4:11PM Holdfast Insurance Benchmark 58 Handicap (Heat 4 Sir Prancelot Series) (1100 METRES)
OUR BENEVENTO was well tried first-up when beaten 2.2 lengths behind General Mint and Gougers. That’s pretty good for this. He draws the inside gate and Todd Pannell takes the ride. BRIMARVI ROOBOY was a winner this track and trip five starts back and placed at his past three. He draws a gate and that air should fight this out as the market reflects. TINNY BAR BLUE is trained here and has a good record this trip beating Outpost last time out. MALVADO was too good in maiden class here last time but faces a sticky gate.
SELECTIONS: OUR BENEVENTO, Brimarvi Rooboy, Malvado
RACE 7 - 4:51PM Cornerstone Stud Benchmark 58 Handicap (Heat 5 Sir Prancelot Series) (1100 METRES)
Not a race I’m super keen on, RUSTYDUSTYSUNSHINE ran well here first-up when he flashed late to be beaten less than a length behind The Publikin and Haneda. He draws out but the small field suits and he’s worth another try. SIDESTREET won consecutive races in April including one this this track and trip and he ran well first-up behind Mrs Hyde at the Parks. SAND CAT has a handy record here and draws a nice gate but needs to improve on her past couple. KITTY DAMOUR was a real eye catcher three starts back on the Parks track behind Trip but her two runs since have been plain, she could improve. CARTIER TIARA was good behind Gougers in town three back and flashed hime last star. She draws well and is suited in the small field.
SELECTIONS: RUSTYDUSTYSUNSHINE, Sidestreet, Kitty Damour
RACE 8 - 5:31PM G&J Civil Class One Handicap (1200 METRES)
DEEVINE beat all but Alleboom at Morphettville two starts back and was good behind General Mint last time. That’s a good pointer for a race like this. TIME WARRIOR is a former Victorian who won well first-up at Port Lincoln and was well backed when 3rd behind My Mate Sonny there last time. He draws to be handy to the speed. KISHSTAR has ability and won well at Murray Bridge three starts back before a plain run at Port Lincoln but improved back here behind Tullys Gold last time. AUSSIE SOJOURN was a winner over 1500m in June and trialled OK for her return to racing. QUIET CLASS draws the inside gate and has claims on his Donald win back in February. RANGER CEE JAY draws well and was placed here in April before winning a Strathalbyn maiden.
SELECTIONS: DEEVINE, Time Warrior, Aussie Sojourn
