RACE 1 - 12:11PM Spring Racing Carnival at Morphettville- Oct. 10 - Nov 3. Handicap (1400 METRES)
AQUEDUCT was ultra-impressive at his Australian debut when he rolled to the front and bolted in by 6.1 lengths at Murray Bridge. This looks slightly hard but he’s drawn to lead and should only improve on that effort. BEST EVER is the interesting runner. He’s a son of Snitzel out of former star mare More Joyous and won his maiden at Pakenham on debut at nice odds. Draws a nice gate and must be given plenty of thought if trainer Peter Moody opts to come here. ROYALTY will get a nice run from the inside gate as will SCORPIUS. STARDAYZ races on speed and drifted sharply before winning at Bendigo, then produced a handy effort at Sandown. KARPOOL KHAN (formerly CARPOOL KARAOKE) was with the Freedman stable for three runs earlier in the year and has trialled OK for his SA debut. Watch AQUEDUCT's last start win at Murray Bridge here.
SELECTIONS: AQUEDUCT, Best Ever, Scorpius
RACE 2 - 12:46PM Sydney Robert McDonald Memorial Handicap (1000 METRES)
BRIMARVI VEHERO has been racing in super form this campaign and has been freshened after a smart win here last time where he sat behind the speed, before taking a split and charging away. He maps to get a gun run behind the speed and has the advantage of race fitness and the claim. ONE MORE JACK was a revelation last time in, winning six races on end before being run down by Jacobite Prince here in May. Despite the wide gate he will make the speed, along with DOMINATION, who has drawn the rail, and that pair should ensure a solid tempo. SEEMINGLY DISCREET is resuming and another who raced very well last campaign, winning four on end. She is unbeaten in two runs here and jumped out smartly for her return. COLUMBIA hasn’t been far away his past two, looks ready to fire and is juicy each-way odds. Watch BRIMARVI VEHERO's latest run here.
SELECTIONS: BRIMARVI VEHERO, Seemingly Discreet, One More Jack
RACE 3 - 1:21PM Terry Howe Printing Handicap (Heat 3 Rebel Raider Series) (1000 METRES)
Really interesting race with some smart fillies clashing. PIMM’S PARTY was dominant on debut on the big track two weeks ago when she was $3.20 to $2.70 and won by three lengths. MILEVA carried a big boom before a smart win on debut at Murray Bridge back in January. She’s had three trials for her return and will wear the blinkers for the first time. QUIETLY DISCREET is another with above average ability. She was $2.40 into $1.95 on debut when beaten 6.1 lengths behind Unstoppabelle (who went on to be placed in a Blue Diamond Preview) at Morphettville back in November. She trialled well and did push Bella Vella in a recent jump-out. She will probably sit off what could be a hot tempo. ALLEBOOM beat So You Can at Balaklava on debut and has trialled well, while GREAT LEVELLER is another who had a spruik early and was $2.30 into $1.75 on debut when third behind State Of Class here, before beating Distillate. Watch MILEVA's last win here.
SELECTIONS: MILEVA, Pimm’s Party, Quietly Discreet
RACE 4 - 1:56PM Schweppes Maiden Plate (1000 METRES)
GALAXY KEEPER is a $120k yearling purchase who looked smart winning a Morphettville trial last week. She draws a good barrier to use her natural speed and the Stokes stable is starting to gather some serious momentum. THE MULTIPLIER led them up and stuck on well behind Celestine on debut. He trialled well into his debut and should take plenty of benefit out of that run. SPARKUP wanted to hang in during the trial won by GALAXY KEEPER recently and draws the inside gate. SELF SUFFICIENT was slow into stride before showing speed to win a jump-out at Morphettville on Monday. The Jon O’Connor stable is going well and SELF SUFFICIENT looks to have ability. SHADOW BOOM was $5.50-$3.80 at Balaklava on debut in April when she only battled but did win a jump-out well last month. KISHSTAR was placed at her last four runs before a break and has trialled well for her resumption. Watch GALAXY KEEPER's latest trial run here.
SELECTIONS: GALAXY KEEPER, The Multiplier, Self Sufficient
RACE 5 - 2:31PM TAB Handicap (1250 METRES)
SHOJIKI was very impressive on debut when she covered some ground and raced away to score by 1.9 lengths a fortnight back. She draws out but will roll forward and should be too smart for these. I expect her to jump a lot shorter than the $1.95 on tab.com.au. TRIP will be nice and handy to the speed from barrier two. She jumped smartly, led them up and looked to be home before she was reeled in late at Murray Bridge last time. LADY BETHANY ran well first-up from a break, closing late, and the Michael Hickmott stable is airborne. WOUNDED SOLIDER hasn’t done a lot wrong recently. Watch SHOJIKI's latest win here.
SELECTIONS: SHOJIKI, Trip, Wounded Solider
RACE 6 - 3:11PM AAMI Handicap (Heat 11 NJT Series) (1000 METRES)
Another race in which it’s hard to line them up over the 1000m, but EXALTED MAXINE has been racing consistently and led them up when fourth behind Streetcar Stranger here last week. She has very good speed, looks the leader and will give them something to chase at nice odds. AKKACAN will get a nice run from the inside gate and races well this track. MAGIC SUNSET is the watch, an ex-McEvoy now Will Clarken-trained mare who has won two of six. She trialled OK recently and her two wins have come at 1200m so watch for any market support. TAKEN OFF has won two of four and had good specking first-up from a spell when 2.3 lengths behind Dawn Salute. He was a winner at his only run this track and trip in December but faces a sticky gate. WEDGETAIL has a handy record of six placings from 11 starts and did run at Group 2 level two back. He was placed behind Champagne Boom over 1000m at Caulfield on debut. THOMPSON’S REWARD was disappointing first-up but goes well this track and trip. He’ll be out the back from a wide gate. Watch EXALTED MAXINE's last second-up win here.
SELECTIONS: EXALTED MAXINE, Taken Off, Akkacan
RACE 7 - 3:51PM Holdfast Insurance Handicap (1950 METRES)
Pretty keen on MORE THAN EVER, who’s fitter for two runs back from a spell and jumps from the mile to 1950m. He’s got plenty of weight but also the most upside in the field and should get a good run midfield from barrier six. CLASSY JOE is racing in great form, with three wins from his past four starts, and draws to be handy to the speed throughout. DR DEPENDABLE was very good behind Nipperkin two back before he led them up and boxed on well to run third behind MUNTHAM MISSILE last time. He gets in well with the claim. MUNTHAM MISSILE draws well and was ridden perfectly last time to defeat Ace Of Clubs, who has franked that form. GOING GAGA has finished off smartly at his past three and gets out in trip, but draws wide. He’ll give these a start but has no weight. JAGUARY has been ordinary at both runs back from a spell, but has shown talent and draws an inside gate. ENBARR is big odds but capable of running into the multiples despite a sticky gate. Watch MORE THAN EVER's last third-up win here.
SELECTIONS: MORE THAN EVER, Dr Dependable, Going Gaga
RACE 8 - 4:30PM Adelaide Galvanising Handicap (1550 METRES)
Open race but interested to see what FINAL HEARING can produce first-up for the Will Clarken stable despite a sticky gate. He’s raced some very good horses during his career, and both runs back from a spell have been pretty solid for a race like this. Stablemate PAGHMAN had very good support first-up in SA when he was beaten 4.7 lengths behind Muntham Missile, and he’ll appreciate a firmer track. TERRITORY TITAN has been low flying and was brave in defeat last time behind Blow Torch. He draws out but has early speed and will be in this for a long way. PELOTON was well backed first-up behind Nipperkin at Murray Bridge before finding the lead and getting reeled in late behind TUBBY TWO TRACKS last time. TUBBY TWO TRACKS is going well and should get a nice run from barrier four. ANALYTICA was brave behind VON COSTA GLASS and draws to be right in the mix from barrier two. EAST INDIAMAN hasn’t missed a place in three runs this track and easily won a recent Morphettville trial. The blinkers go off. VON COSTA GLASS was back to form last time but has a tricky gate and plenty of weight.
SELECTIONS: FINAL HEARING, Territory Titan, Peloton
RACE 9 - 5:05PM Furphy Handicap (1550 METRES)
Not a race I’m overly keen on and a feeling only fuelled by the scratching of Melody Man. MEEHnI was a touch disappointing last time when favourite but was a good winner back in class two runs ago. If she has some early luck from a tricky gate she’ll be hard to beat. CANNOT BE SERIOS draws out but raced on speed and was strong late last time. The stable is flying. LINE DANCER draws a good barrier and has the Clarken/Pannell combination. SPLASH SOME CASH has run well his past couple, while FLYING PIERRO draws the inside and looks an improver here. Watch MEEHNI's last win here.
SELECTIONS: MEEHNI, Cannot Be Serios, Splash Some Cash
