BEST BET: STRYKE IN STYLE (Race 5)
EACH-WAY: JIMMY WITHA DASH (Race 2)
VALUE: ARCTIC FLORA (Race 3)
RACE 1 - 1:20PM Holdfast Insurance / SABOIS Maiden Plate (1500 METRES)
MONRAAJ was an eye-catching effort behind the talented Shojiki at Morphettville last time. He got a long way back and was last turning for home, before working home very well between runners to be beaten just 2.7 lengths. That looks a very strong pointer for this and he looked value at the opening price of $4. NAKHEEL comes out of the same race and covered ground but was very one-paced finishing seventh. The jump from 1100m to 1500m looks ideal for her. SARNIA was another in the same race and she made good ground back towards the inside to be beaten 4.2 lengths into sixth spot (SCRATCHED). Her overall form over the past month has been OK. TURN TABLE ran really well at his debut on a heavy track when narrowly beaten by Tibetan and has the significant advantage of a 3kg claim for Jacob Opperman. Watch MONRAAJ's latest run HERE.
SELECTIONS: MONRAAJ, Turn Table, Nakheel
RACE 2 - 1:55PM Terrace Function Centre / SABOIS Colts, Geldings & Entires Maiden Plate (1200 METRES)
JIMMY WITHA DASH ran well first-up from a spell behind Pimm’s Party at Morphettville. He copped a squeeze on the home turn before balancing up and getting through the line strongly. He is sure to take plenty of benefit from the run and went up close to each-way odds at $4.60 with tab.com.au in early markets, which looked generous. HARD BORDER drifted sharply in betting and raced on speed before tiring late behind Shojiki at Morphettville on debut. His previous trial was good and he gets the blinkers on for the first time. THE HAITIAN POET was good last time, beaten 2.2 lengths behind Xingyun here, and draws a nice gate, while stablemate HENRY THE BRUCE has jumped out OK. MALVADO draws a nice gate and did cover ground last time out in a stronger race. KING SLIM ran well at his two runs before a break earlier in the year. Watch JIMMY WITHA DASH's latest run here.
SELECTIONS: JIMMY WITHA DASH, Hard Border, The Haitian Poet
RACE 3 - 2:30PM Adelaide Plains Bloodstock / SABOIS Fillies and Mares Maiden Plate (1200 METRES)
LADY DUNMORE ran well at two runs back in March before she was well tried from $2.15 to $1.95 and was only fair, beaten 2.6 lengths behind Extra Mile here. That was on a heavy track where she never looked super comfortable. She’s back on top of the ground and gets her chance to atone. There was plenty to like about SCARLET RIVER on debut. She worked into the clear on the corner and made good ground behind Pimm’s Party at Morphettville. She draws out but gets her chance. ARCTIC FLORA went around a nice odds and was solid late, beaten 2.2 lengths behind Extra Mile here on a heavy track a fortnight back. She’s placed at four of her past five but is back to mares grade here. BRIABELLA jumped out pretty well at Strathalbyn recently. She draws a good gate and Jess Eaton takes the ride. SMEET MINSKY ran well behind Ultimate Victory at Naracoorte two back and was OK last week behind Smokin’ Val in fast time at Murray Bridge. Watch LADY DUNMORE's latest run here.
SELECTIONS: LADY DUNMORE, Scarlet River, Arctic Flora
RACE 4 - 3:05PM Cornerstone Stud Rating 0-58 Handicap (Heat 1 Sir Prancealot Series) (1100 METRES)
DEEVINE was a winner here over 1200m last month and had specking at a price when he beat all but Dawn Salute at Morphettville last time. OUTPOST dead-heated with DEEVINE for second spot that day and has placed at four of his past five. He draws wide but is capable. EXTRA MILE went around good odds but thrived in the heavy conditions to beat Arctic Flora here a fortnight back. His previous form was only fair. TURF TAPPER ran well when making ground from a long way back behind Grinzinger Express at Murray Bridge last week and draws to get a nice run from gate three, down in the weights. SAND CAT has won eight races and her best form is on soft conditions. Watch DEEVINE's latest run here.
SELECTIONS: DEEVINE, Extra Mile, Outpost
RACE 5 - 3:40PM GBJC Life Members Cup Benchmark 56 Handicap (1700 METRES)
STRYKE IN STYLE gets his chance here. His past three runs have been very good, running fourth behind Rohlon Drunk here in July. He jumped up in class, had a good run and finished off strongly late behind Wounded Solider at Morphettville, before he was beaten 1.3 lengths behind Tubby Two Tracks at Morphettville. That’s a solid form line for a race like this. He gets out to 1700m and the claim for Sophie Logan is a bonus. The $3.30 makes him a good bet. FRANKEL STAR ran well at his first two runs in SA, being placed here and at Murray Bridge, before only battling in the heavy ground last time. He draws an inside gate and has the claim. BARRYMORE has placed at two of three runs here and stuck on well in the heavy conditions here last time. KING RED battled on OK in the same race. AZZUREOUS was never comfortable in the heavy conditions here last time, ran well behind Rapid Raiser first-up and opened a decent price. Watch STRYKE IN STYLE's latest run here.
SELECTIONS: STRYKE IN STYLE, Frankel Star, Azzureous
RACE 6 - 4:15PM October 23rd - 2020 Gawler Cup Benchmark 54 Handicap (1200 METRES)
BOOMER BEACH ran super at his first start for more than a year in heavy conditions here a fortnight back when he beat all but Magic Phantom. The claim for Jacob Opperman is significant, he’s fitter and gets his chance to bounce back. He’s short at around $1.90, but has a lot of upside. CARBONE won three on end here and was low-flying but only battled at Murray Bridge last time when he got a long way back. He draws well and looks a danger if he can regain his form from June and early July. Liked the run of REGINA DEL DRAMMA first-up when she made ground behind Hateech here. She’s lightly-raced, has upside and draws nicely in gate four. PANZER PRINCESS doesn’t run too many bad races, draws ideally in gate two, but has only won one of 31, which is a worry. Watch BOOMER BEACH's latest run here.
SELECTIONS: BOOMER BEACH, Carbone, Regina Del Dramma
Race 7 - 4:50PM Coopers Brewery Benchmark 54 Handicap (Heat 10 NJT Series) (1500 METRES)
Tough end to the day with not a lot of depth here, but the scratching of Jack’s A Cracker has put this race at the mercy of CAN’T BLUFF ME who has been runner-up at both runs in SA for Matt Seyers. He’s back on a good track and aided by the claim, so this looks his race. LEORBIT is much better than recent form and was racing well last campaign. MIHANY goes well here and should get an OK run from barrier six. NEWBAY FLYER drops back in class and won well at Bordertown last Friday. Watch CAN'T BLUFF ME's latest run here.
SELECTIONS: CAN’T BLUFF ME, Leorbit, Mihany
