RACE 1 - 12:45PM Terrace Function Centre / SABOIS Maiden Plate (1516 METRES)
TIBETAN is another of these former Kiwi horses now with Michael Hickmott. He was runner-up Avondale in March and has placed at five of nine starts. He looked good winning a recent Murray Bridge jump-out and has the blinkers off. THE BULL MCCABE is bursting to win a race and hasn’t missed a place in his last five starts. He led last time at Balaklava and was only reeled in late by Meenhi, who was sent out favourite in a stronger race at Morphettville on Saturday. He gets his chance form gate four with Shayne Cahill riding. PASSING PHASE looks a danger. She made ground from a long way back first-up and again ran well in town behind Double Blue last time. That form should stack up pretty well here. TURN TABLE is a first starter for Jake Stephens and has trialled OK, firstly back in March and again at Morphettville last month behind Deevine. Barrier three and Todd Pannell riding are two big ticks.
SELECTIONS: TIBETAN, The Bull McCabe, Passing Phase
RACE 2 - 1:20PM Adelaide Plains Bloodstock / SABOIS Maiden Plate (1100 METRES)
LADY DUNMORE showed enough last campaign with two handy efforts in town. She made ground beaten 5 lengths behind Ecumenical before another good effort, running within 1.5 lengths of Yule My Hero. She’s trialled well for her return and draws well. ARCTIC FLORA is racing well and came from back in the field here last time to beat all but Deejay Bobo when well backed from $4 into a $2.80 favourite. Jason Holder sticks with him which is a solid push. NO FILTER is another who ran pretty well on debut behind Yule My Hero at Morphettville back in March and has jumped out very well for her return. The wide gate is a slight concern. LOMAX had some support and ran well behind Narrative Star at Gawler last time. He does face a sticky gate. JIMMY WITHA DASH obviously has ability, running favourite at his first two starts. He went to Melbourne and was beaten 7.3 lengths behind Translator at Sandown but the form out of that race is pretty good for something like this. Todd Pannell and barrier four are big plusses. MEADOWS YOUNG BUCK was placed at two of four starts earlier in the year. NORDIC LASS debuts for Andrew Clarken and has blinkers, while STRIP CLUB will be the speed in the race.
SELECTIONS: LADY DUNMORE, No Filter, Arctic Flora
RACE 3 - 1:55PM Cornerstone Stud Class Two Handicap (1516 METRES)
Interesting race. ZOFFALA went to the paddock in good form, winning at Oakbank and Morphettville earlier in the year. He’s obviously done plenty of work at home to be resuming over 1516m and looks into the race up to his ears. TEXAS LIL trialled well for her return and made some ground behind Wounded Solider wide out at Morphettville. She draws a good gate and is worth some thought. ALLAYEZ has won two of his past four and races well this track and trip. CAN’T BLUFF ME was a big drifter but ran well at his first run in SA for Matt Seyers. TAPPIN THOMAS ran a cheeky race on speed here two starts back when runner-up behind Black Syrah and draws to be in the mix.
SELECTIONS: ZOFFALA, Texas Lil, Allayez
RACE 4 - 2:30PM Happy 50th Matthew Brown / SABOIS+ Maiden/ Class One Plate (2121 METRES)
KIG AND KING is progressing nicely though the grades. He was game first-up, working to the line smartly when second behind Neodium and then justified a big push in betting – from $2.05 into $1.70 – to score here last time. He should appreciate the extra trip and looks the testing material. ARMAMENT has been good here in SA and deserves to win a similar race. He led when he beat home all but KING AND KING last time and will again make his own luck from a good barrier. KEN’S THUNDER led and gave nothing a look in here two runs back before starting favourite when beaten 8.7 lengths behind Ace Of Clubs at Bordertown. He draws to be handy to the speed and will appreciate the claim. KARAOKE EXPRESS is working back towards a win, only beaten 1.6 lengths behind Drop The Orange her last time. MULGA LIL is racing well, being placed at her past three, and will appreciate the soft surface. BACK POCKET made very good ground from a long way back behind Ace Of Clubs at Murray Bridge last time and is a winner here.
SELECTIONS: KING AND KING, Armament, Karaoke Express
RACE 5 - 3:05PM Specsavers Gawler Benchmark 54 Handicap (1100 METRES)
Looks a good race for PANZER PRINCESS who has been runner-up her past three. She led when only reeled in late by Carlaluisa last time. She should be able to find the lead from barrier three and will appreciate the claim for Maggie Collett. However, she is winless from 13 tries (seven placings) on soft tracks. CHEVITE has won two of his past four here. He draws out, which won’t help his claims, but loves a soft track. HILUMIERE has a good record this track and trip and really likes the sting out of the track, being placed in two of three on heavy tracks. He ran well here two starts back when third behind Carbone which is OK form for this. TURF TAPPER failed at Murray Bridge two runs back but his overall form this time in has been solid enough. He is drawn a touch tricky here. VINDEX gets the blinkers back on and his form earlier in the year was OK for a race like this. His only win did come first-up. PONTYPAUL won well here, storming home wide out, four runs back but hasn’t fired in three runs since.
SELECTIONS: PANZER PRINCESS, Chevite, Hilumiere
RACE 6 - 3:40PM Coopers Brewery Benchmark 62 Handicap (Heat 4 NJT Series) (1719 METRES)
Open race on paper. FRANKEL STAR has been solid at two runs in SA for Matt Seyers. He was placed behind Allayez before stepping up in class and being placed behind Resurge at Murray Bridge which is good form for a race like this. He’s placed at four of seven on soft going and draws a nice gate. SPLASH SOME CASH is good enough for this on his best and his effort two back at Balaklava was solid. He is unbeaten in two runs on the heavy. BARRYMORE looks the improver here third up from a spell. He was far from disgraced behind Sadente first-up and then raced on speed and tired late behind Territory Titan last time. He’s getting out to somewhere near his best distance and draws a good gate with Jason Holder to ride. AZZUREOUS ran well first-up from a break when fourth behind Rapid Raiser here a fortnight back. He’s a progressive staying type that will appreciate the step up to 1719m, so look for him late from a wide gate. KING RED hasn’t fired for a while but races well this track and trip and Todd Pannell sticks with him.
SELECTIONS: FRANKEL STAR, Azzureous, Barrymore
RACE 7 - 4:15PM Kingsford Hotel Rating 0-58 Handicap (1200 METRES)
Wide open race to finish the day. BOOMER BEACH hasn’t raced for over a year but has some form around nice horses. He loves soft tracks and did look good winning a recent Strathalbyn jump-out. Barrier five and Todd Pannell give him claims. CRYPTO CURRENCY was a winner here three starts back and was sent out favourite when fifth, beaten 5.8 lengths behind Rothmoore in town. He stuck on well when third behind Carlaluisa here a fortnight back and must be given some though from a nice barrier. ALLACCIATO hasn’t raced since last October but obviously has talent, having won a maiden over a mile before being beaten five lengths in the Group 1 New Zealand Oaks. Betting will be the best guide. JACKS A CRACKER resumes and raced very well last time in. He was beaten 5.6 lengths behind Perfect Route before being tried in the Port Adelaide Guineas. GEDE is lightly raced and was beaten here on debut before breaking her maiden status at Murray Bridge. She was sent to the paddock after she was beaten 13.3 lengths behind Lisette at Morphettville in April. Betting will be the best guide to her first-up claims from a sticky gate. DELUXE DESIGN looks to be dropping back sharply in class after getting back and making good ground behind Domination at Balaklava when resuming, and is a winner second-up. ANNIKA won her maiden at Strath in February as a $1.50 chance and was sent out $2.30 fav here a fortnight back but was less than impressive, beaten almost five lengths. She will be the improver. DEEJAY BOBO was $21 into $12 when he held off Arctic Flora first-up in SA for Barry Brook here last month. He draws out but Jason Holder takes the ride. LINE DANCER was a good price when he won his Strathalbyn maiden last year. He hasn’t done a lot in two trials ahead of his return but it would be no surprise to see him run a forward race. MAGIC PHANTOM gets the blinkers back on here and has won two of three starts on heavy tracks. He’d give this a shake with a repeat of his Balaklava run two starts back behind Pivotal Force. LIPPSY SHUFFLE draws wide but looks capable of improving in this sort of race.
